The Transportation Commission consists of seven voting members (a representative from the Flagstaff Unified School District, and six Council-appointed citizens) and three ex-officio members (the City Traffic Engineer, the City Court Magistrate, and a Police Department representative). The Transportation Commission reviews requests for changes in traffic regulations and formulates and recommends traffic-related policies and ordinances to the Council. The Transportation Commission has appointed two subcommittees to provide advice on special traffic and transportation topics: the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees.
The Commission meets monthly on the first Wednesday at City Hall. Meetings begin at 4:00 pm and typically last about 2 hours, although on occasion they may go longer.
Agenda packets are sent out several days in advance of the meeting. Commissioners are expected to review the information in advance of the meeting.
Commission members must live within City limits. Members are appointed by the City Council to 3 year terms.
