Friends of Flagstaff’s Future has requested the Coconino National Forest to undertake a Supplemental Environmental Impact Study, which would evaluate the cumulative traffic impacts resulting from activities at Arizona Snowbowl and snow-play along U.S. 180 and mitigate traffic congestion.Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization identified impacts from winter traffic congestion along U.S. 180 as highly problematic. In order to fully understand how Arizona Snowbowl expansion will impact already congested roads, the Coconino National Forest needs to study these new circumstances that were not taken into an account in the original study process in 2005.
